Your First Sunday

We know meeting someone for the first time can be intimidating, and going to a new church for the first time can be nerve-racking. We want to help make your first experience at St. Johns a great one!

LOCATION & TIME

Our services begin at 9:00 am, 10:30 am and 5 pm respectively. We meet at St. Johns Anglican Church located at 27 Childers Street in the heart of Cranbourne.  You will see a sign and a car park for St. Johns Anglican once you enter Childers Street.  Parking is located by the main entrance.

WHAT TO EXPECT?

Every service is a little different, with it’s own tastes and styles but there are some things that are common across all services.

MUSIC

Our services start with music and throughout the service there will be a number of times where we stop and sing. Each service does this a little differently, but we work hard at keeping our music engaging, reverent and in genuine community

BIBLE

We believe that the best way to know more about God is through reading the bible Every week and at every service, we will read passages from the Old and New Testament and team from it.

Our sermons last for around 25 minutes.

PRAYER

We have a formal time of prayer in our service and there are a number of times where we will pray as a community by saying words on screen together

You are not expected to pray out loud if that makes you feel uncomfortable, but we do invite you to join by listening & reflecting as we lead people in prayer.

KIDS AND YOUTH

At St. Johns, we’ve organised our services so that our families can be together whilst still providing appropriate learning experience.

Everyone starts in the 10:30am service together, which includes a special Kids Talk given just for our kids, before our primary school aged children (Prep – Grade 5) heads out around ten minutes into the service to a Kids Program packed with singing, stories, teaching, prayer and games. They return later in the service just before Communion.

We take very seriously the safety of the kids of our church and so before a child can come out to the Kids Program we require that they have been signed in each week and an enrollment form has been filled out for them. We also close our sign-in desk for kids at 10:40am.

HOW LONG IS A SERVICE?

We aim to keep our service under 90min.

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?

There is no need to dress up or wear something special. Modest casual wear is fine.

DO I NEED TO BRING ANYTHING?

No. If you have a bible you can bring it. There are bibles available wherever you sit.

WILL I HAVE TO DO/SAY/GIVE ANYTHING?

No. We offer an opportunity for regular members to worship God by giving financially. This is done by passing around a bag for people to put in money but there is no expectation for visitors to contribute.

CAN I BRING A PRAM TO CHURCH?

Definitely. Most of our families with young kids bring a pram.

CAN MY CHILDREN STAY IN THE SERVICE WITH ME?

Absolutely. We provide great kids programs but you are welcome to keep your kids with you.
