Dear church family,

What a cold and wintery end to the week!  I pray you’re warm and that God is blessing you with all you need.

This week at church we’re going to be looking at Philippians chapter 2 and two Ts that flow from it… Unity based on Humility, indeed based on Christ’s humility and his willing service and sacrifice.  How does this relate to your life today?  Tune in on Sunday to find out!

Every blessing for the weekend, and see you for church online.

In Christ,
Sam.

Lament

People have a lot of different reactions to the pandemic and how it’s affected our lives.  As the restrictions here in Victoria have been so effective and we begin to look towards the easing of the lockdown, this can be a time where emotions that have been bottled as we’ve dealt with change can begin to spill out.  Sometimes Christians can feel like it’s unfaithful to grieve, or be angry, or sad.  The bible is in fact full of these emotions, and often directed towards God, and we are encouraged to express them.  This short article briefly explains the structure of biblical lament, and shows you how to engage in the expression of your own laments.

Online Survey – Last Week!

Our online survey – listening to each other is still open for responses – but this is the last week! I really encourage you to take 5-8 minutes now and fill in the survey if you haven’t yet – It’s a way of having your say about how we’re going and where we’re going as a church.  You can get to it simply by clicking here

Working from home

One of the challenging aspects of these days is that so many are now working from home and having to juggle our time in new ways.  Sometimes that means we end up never leaving work behind, sometimes that can leave us feeling like we’re just not as productive as we need to be.  Here’s some tips from the centre for effective living on how to make it work.

The Melbourne Anglican (TMA)

TMA for this month is now out – you can download it here, or pick up a printed copy from the church.

Kids Ministry

We’ve included kids talks in the service and some activity sheets to download for the kids which you can download here (so you can print them off early and get set up before time!) or you’ll be able to find these at our online church page on our website every Sunday from 9am.

St John’s Gardens need your help!

The gardens here at St John’s are in need of a weed.  The weather’s not great right now, but Tuesday and Wednesday next week are looking rain free.  If you have time on your hands and are up for some responsibly socially distant weeding, please get in touch with me by reply email and I’ll point you in the direction of some likely looking weeds.

Giving

Just a reminder that you can come and drop off your envelopes between 2 and 3 at St John’s every Sunday afternoon or give online.
