Towards re-opening

Dear church family,

I’m so looking forward to being able to once again meet together to worship and praise our good God!  I’ve certainly missed Sundays with you all – talking to a camera is not at all the same.  We’re still a few weeks off re-opening on a Sunday as we wait for the restrictions to ease further, but we’re into the full swing of getting the church COVIDSafe and compliant with all the governmental and diocesan requirements.

The first step has been to appoint COVIDSafe officers for each of our church locations, and I’m very pleased to announce we’ve made things simple – both our COVIDSafe Officers are called Lorraine!  Lorraine Serpanchy is the CSO for St John’s Cranbourne, and Lorraine Jacques is our CSO for Christ Church Tooradin.  Their role is to ensure that all the systems and people are in place to make sure we are opening responsibly and safely.

Your Role

But it’s not all up to them!  To open the doors again we’ll need a number of volunteers per service.  At the moment at St John’s we’re looking to have a Wednesday Service and three Sunday services (two in the morning and one in the evening – we’re still making decisions as to the times as under the requirements we need an hour between services).  For each of these services we’ll need two people at the door (ensuring social distancing and taking contact details as required by law) and a post service cleaning crew (4 people per service for Sundays, two for Wednesday).  Can you help?  If so, please email Lorraine Serpanchy at lserpanchy@gmail.com or call her on 0413 669 663.

Our first service back!

The first service we’re planning to put on will be an invitation only service on Wednesday the 17th of June at 10am at St John’s.  This is a service for those who aren’t online and so have been missing our services entirely.  We’ll be in touch with people who we know haven’t been online and inviting them, but if you know someone who has been missing out on our online services and would like an invitation, please get in touch with me by reply email or call on 0406 342 028 and we’ll add them to the list.  We are legally only able to have 20 people at this service, so please do only come if invited (but let us know if you want to be invited!).

God willing, the government will further ease restrictions and our Sunday services will be up and running again towards the end of June or early July, and everyone will be able to come back.  May God speed on the day!

In Christ,
Sam.

Introducing Lorraine, our COVID-Safe Officers!

Lorraine Serpanchy

Lorraine Jacques
Lorraine is a member of our 10:30am congregation at St John’s – you might recognise her from the excellent job she does as a greeter and the one who ensures that everyone rostered is present and ready to serve.

e: lserpanchy@gmail.com
m: 0413 669 663
Lorraine is our CSO for Tooradin and I’m sure needs no introduction to the Tooradin congregation, being a long term member.  Lorraine has also served the Parish as a whole as one of our representatives at Synod for many years.
