Dear church family,

I pray you are doing well and despite, or even because of, the continuing outbreak of COVID-19 we as a church are learning (however falteringly!) to be depending more deeply and trusting more truly in our good and gracious God.  Jesus Christ is lord today!  And the good news of Jesus Christ is powerfully redeeming this fallen and broken world, and leading us on to the eternal hope we have that can not be shaken.

In our Galatians passage today we discover that the good news of Jesus Christ is perhaps older than you think.  According to Paul, God “declared the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, ‘All the Gentiles shall be blessed in you.’” (3:8).  So often people can think that the Old Testament has a different God, angry and capricious, and a different message than the New Testament.  Actually both speak with one voice of a God who has planned the good news of Jesus Christ from before time began, and has been graciously declaring it down through the ages.  A God who is intent on blessing the nations through Jesus, and blessing you in Him.

God bless!

Small Groups

These times can be isolating, and life is better together!  We’re looking to start some new small groups – we’ve already got a couple of people looking to start a group, and we’d love to have a few more.  If you’d like to be part of a small group, please reply to this email to me letting me know and indicating three times in the week that would be convenient for you.  At first you’d be meeting online (it’s easier than you think, and if new to you we can help you get started)

Holidays

I’ll be on holidays from Monday 6 July until Wednesday the 15th.  Rev. Ian Savage has very kindly agreed to be available if you need a minister at all over that time.  His contact details are:

Mobile: 0433 240 976
Email: revids94@gmail.com

Through the magic of modern technology, though on holidays you’ll still get me for church on Sunday the 12th, though the service will be a little shorter than has been the case.

Vision Gatherings

Though church is suspended in person, we want to be using this time to be planning the way forward as a community in the years ahead, so once we’re back we can hit the ground running.  Thanks to all those who filled in the church community survey – you’ll get an executive summary of the results (all de-identified to keep confidentiality for those who responded) by Sunday the 26th of July.  We’ll then have a series of vision gatherings which we’ll do online – you can choose whichever time best suits you:

3-4pm                Sunday the 2nd of August; or
10:30-11:30am  Wednesday the 5th of August;

You’ll get all the zoom video conferencing details and more of an outline of what we’re going to be doing, but please do put it in your diary now!

Giving

Just a reminder that you can give by envelope dropped off at the church between 2-3pm on Sundays, or you may give electronically, either anonymously or put your name as a reference, but please do also reference it as ‘giving’ to help our records.
