We love that you are thinking about baptism. We believe that it is important to give everyone the opportunity to experience the love of God, whether you are exploring baptism for yourself or on behalf of someone else.
We believe that there are a couple of necessary steps to prepare for baptism:
- 1: Come and visit our 10:30 am church service
Why is that the first step?
We believe that baptism includes commitments to be part of the local church, so you will want to know whether we’re a good fit for you and your family and whether we’re the kind of community you can see yourself becoming a part of.
Babies and children are very welcome, we have a cry room with toys for parents to listen to the service while their pre-school kids play, and a children’s program for kids from prep to grade six.
- 2: Make a time to meet with the minister
We’ll go through what baptism is, whether baptism or a thanksgiving service is the best way forward, and answer any questions you might have.
- 3: Attend a short course (4 one hour sessions) outlining the basics of Christianity
This may be as part of a larger group or individually with the minister depending on how many people are seeking baptism at a particular time.
It’s worth noting at this point that if coming for the baptism of a baby or child, at least one parent needs to themselves have been baptised and are a professing Christian who regularly attends church or is willing to start attending regularly. If neither of you fit that description, why not come and learn more, ask the big questions and discover if Christianity might offer something more?
Baptism is about joining the community of people who follow Jesus, and so normally all our baptisms are held during the Sunday 10:30am service.
Depending on the level of Government restrictions on gatherings, this will either take place as part of our regular 10:30am service or as a special additional service at 2:30pm.
